Your privacy

When Death Happens is operated by Memorygram. This policy covers whendeathhappens.com. When you move to create a memorial, you are handed off to Memorygram’s memorial product, which has its own policy (see below).

What we collect

• Your email, only if you give it. If you ask us to unlock or send the printable checklist, or otherwise sign up, we use your address to send it and to manage that list. Email addresses are stored and sent through Klaviyo, our email provider. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time.
• Analytics and advertising. Like most sites, we measure visits and which pages help, and we run ads. To do this we use Google Analytics and Google Ads (including conversion tracking) and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel. These set cookies and collect standard technical data — pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location, and the actions you take — so we can understand whether our guidance reaches the people who need it and measure our advertising.
• Referral and campaign information. If you arrive from an ad or a link, we store the campaign tags and click identifiers from that link (for example utm_*, gclid, fbclid) in a first-party cookie so we understand where visitors come from and can measure our ads.
• Affiliate links. Some links on this site go to partners who pay us a commission if you use their service, at no extra cost to you (for example flowers, life insurance, estate planning, identity protection, grief support, and keepsakes). When you click one of these links, the partner and its affiliate network — such as Impact, Partnerize, or the partner directly — may set their own cookies to attribute the referral and any resulting purchase. We only include partners we would point a friend to, and every page carrying such a link says so.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not show fake reviews or manufactured urgency. We do not require an account to use the guidance or to begin a memorial.

When you create a memorial

Creating a memorial hands you off to Memorygram (memorials.memorygram.com), our memorial product. Anything you enter there is handled under Memorygram’s own privacy policy, at checkout.memorygram.com/policies/privacy-policy.

Your choices

• You can use this site without giving us your email.
• You can decline or clear cookies in your browser, and use browser or device controls (and extensions like Google’s Analytics opt-out) to limit analytics and advertising tracking.
• You can opt out of personalized Google advertising at myadcenter.google.com and manage Meta ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.
• To ask what personal information we hold about you, or to have it deleted, contact us through the contact page.
